Reduce Minority Expulsion Rates Through Cultural Appreciation and Curriculum.
Youth To Paint Murals Throughout Modesto Acknowledging Sacred Indigenous Tradition.

Modesto, Ca. – March 31 , 2008

Modesto City Schools student population, divided by race, for 2006 – 2007 are 52% Latinos, 32% Caucasians, 6% Asian and 5% Black students. Education is the tool to produce a productive society but yet the expulsion statistics in Modesto for 2006 - 2007 year were 56% Latino, 27% Caucasians, Blacks 11% and Asians 4%.

However, the education must be relevant to our youth’s reality in order to encourage them to learn. This curriculum must include self knowledge to properly cultivate the divinity within each student. The foundation of the curriculum will include the iconic figures that have positively impacted the struggles of the Latino, Black and Asian communities. In this melting pot we now live in, we must have knowledge about the other cultures in our society to live in peace and establish a mutual respect for each other.

The Tri Cultural Educational Mural Project is setting out to strategically place four murals th roughout the City of Modesto this summer. The north mural will honor ancestors and elders, giving reverence to wisdom, experience, guidance and leadership. The south mural will honor children, highlighting their potential, joyful energy, curiosity to learn, and the fact they are the future. The west mural will honor women, celebrate their unconditional love, nurturing and strength. The east mural will honor men, the warrior spirit, fatherhood, obligation of carrying on tradition, culture, and preserving family.

Fathers Who Care is a 501c3 non profit organization which has a foundation deeply rooted in the premise that knowledge, leadership and education are the keys to self determination and economic freedom. Please support us in our efforts to make Modesto a progressive environment for our future.

Project Sponsors: City of Modesto Culture Commission, E & J Gallo Winery, Gianelli & Associates.
