On May 3rd and 4th, 2008, the Irmandade Mariense Divino Espirito Santo organization will meet again for our annual celebration of the Imperio do Espirito Santo – a traditional Portuguese celebration of the Holy Spirit and our unique Santa Marian-Azorean cultural heritage. The Festa has been observed in the United States for over 100 years, and our organization has been actively participating for over a decade. This festival has become an important event in the lives of Portuguese-Americans, and a chance to re-connect with the beliefs and traditions of our ancestors. We urgently wish to keep our many unique and beautiful traditions alive for our children and the community. All are welcome to join our celebration, whether they have Portuguese ancestry or are simply interested in expanding their cultural knowledge.
As a non-profit fellowship, our only goals lay in the edification of our children, the continuity of the old-world Portuguese customs, and in building a sense of cultural solidarity. We hope that you will join our celebration this year!
