Don't Get Scammed! Rent Smart!
If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is. Do your research and WATCH THE RED FLAGS:
.Most scammers don't want to talk over the phone and will only text.
.Beware of sympathy stories of why someone can't personally show you the home. .
.A scammer may send you a link to a company's website with a pass-code included so that you, the prospective resident, can go online to pay for them and obtain the entry code.
.A scammer may ask you to provide them with the home's self-tour code. Never give anyone the lockbox code.
.Never keep a lockbox key. When officially leasing a home a set of keys should be provided to you.
.Be caution of those who push wired money or cash for payments.
.Never provide your personal information; name, phone number and mailing address to a scammer.
.Do your research to find out who the true home's owner is.
