I have two sets of hardcarved nesting dolls made by a Russian emigre that I purchased during the 2nd Bush presidency. The Soviet/Russian dolls goes back to Khrushchev and the American dolls go back to Carter. They are in excellent shape, no chips or breaks, but care must be taken separating them as it is easy to chip the wood edging.
