We finally have coop-ready pullets again!! They range in age from 5 weeks on up to 4 months, with most 6-8 weeks.
***NOTE*** The pictures are of the parents, grandparents, and full sisters. This is what your chicks will look in 2-3 months!
Coop-ready means that the chicks have feathers (instead of fluffy chick down) so they are able to keep warm. You don't need a heat lamp or brooder heater plate or anything. If your coop is snug and warm, they can go straight into it. If your coop is just a wire pen, the chicks would probably be more comfortable with a crate or nesting box inside the pen so they can have a shield from wind or rain.
When the chicks are this age, we can generally tell the girls from the boys, so this lets you get a pullet (young hen) instead of risking getting a rooster.
We have a variety of colors and breeds to choose from, including:
Easter Eggers--these come in blue, white, black, chocolate, etc. They lay mostly blue or green eggs, with an occasional one laying a pinkish cream or brown. $30 each, two or more are $25 each.
Sage Eggers--a beautiful blue bird that lays a light green egg with a touch of gray in its color. $30 each or two for $50.
Olive Eggers--another beautiful blue bird that will lay a dark green or olive colored egg. $30 each or 2/$50
TRUE Araucanas--a tailless bird with tufts that lay blue eggs! $40 or $35 each when buying multiple.
Silverudds Blues, aka Isbars--a bird from Sweden that comes in blue, black, or splash. They lay a green egg, generally with speckles. $40 or $35 each if buying multiple birds.
Black Copper Marans--a large bird that is traditionally considered a good tasting table bird, but which is even more sought after for the STUNNING dark chocolate brown eggs that they lay. These are the only eggs that James Bond will allow in his omelets! While there's no way to guarantee how dark future eggs will be in a young pullet, our birds that are the parents came from VERY dark (and very expensive!) eggs, so these pullets have the genes to go really dark! $50
Whiting True Greens--a classic red chicken that ranges from dark deep red to a cinnamon color. They lay large green eggs, and were developed by a chicken expert who wanted to create a breed that didn't require a lot of feed to lay large quantities of great eggs, and had the genes for green eggs. $30 each or 2/$50.
Silver and Gold Laced Wyandottes--Wyandottes are a friendly, fluffy, docile chicken that does well free ranging but also handles confinement well. They make a wonderful first chicken, are very striking looking, and lay lots of light brown eggs. $30 each or 2/$50.
All of these coop ready pullets are from friendly hens and polite roosters. We do NOT breed any roosters that are even the slightest bit aggressive!!
We have one pullet left who is ready to start laying eggs any minute now. She is almost 5 months. She is a Firebright, which is a new breed that is smaller than a Large Fowl but larger than a Bantam. They have Phoenix, Sebright, and Araucana in them. She is black with some gold lacing. Her eggs are most likely to be green, but there's a small chance of pinkish tan eggs instead. $30.
Also have Whiting True Greens, Araucanas, Silverudd’s Blues, Sage Eggers (Blue with gold on neck and head, lays sage-green eggs), Olive Eggers (brown and blue speckled, lays olive colored eggs), and some colorful Easter Eggers! Rainbow mix of colorful chickens that lay blue, turquoise, green, sage, olive, pinkish-tan, brown, and chocolate colored available too! We have upcoming hatches of Marans coming for those who love the deep dark colored eggs. We are happy to mix and match to get you exactly what you want!
