These Sage Eggers are Beautiful Blue! Some may have a scattering of gold on their neck and hackles. The chicks are currently shades of ADORABLE puffy, fluffy dark blue.
When they are grown, the hens will lay eggs that will range in shade from dark Sage Green to Olive Green, and they should lay approximately 250+ per year.
These will be medium framed birds, who will have a good feed-to-egg conversion rate (they don’t require as much feed as other, heavier breeds, while still laying lots of big eggs). They do well free ranging, but also are very tolerant of confinement, so they should work regardless of your setup.
The rooster that is the father of these chicks is very polite and gentle, and the hens that are the mothers are very friendly and like to be petted. I only breed chickens that are non aggressive and easy to deal with. Obviously how you raise them and handle them makes a difference, but getting chicks from calm, docile, and friendly parents increases your chances of getting calm and friendly chicks!
