We are seeking a qualified Farm/ Ranch Manager to help oversee a large farming operation in Modesto. This is NOT an entry level position. Applicants must have time and experience in the industry, must be hard working, dedicated, and comfortable in all aspects of farming.
We are a family business (not some large investment firm) currently farming several thousand acres here in the valley. The Ranch Manager will help oversee day to day operations including, but not limited to:
- Scheduling of men and labor crews
- Tractor operations
- Coordination of sprays/ harvest/ orchard tasks
- General field repairs/ troubleshooting
- Irrigation scheduling/ repairs/ troubleshooting
- Water ordering
- Reviewing/ hiring of general labor workers
This position will be primarily focused in the almond industry. Required skill sets required will be:
- Knowledge of crops
- Knowledge of Pesticide applications/ Ag-chem
- Advanced understanding of pressurized drip systems/ pumping facilities
- Advanced understanding of orchard tractor/equipment operations
- The ability to fix and repair anything as need be (we have a full time shop, but simple field repairs are a must)
- Ability to calculate irrigation needs
- Ability to mix and apply Ag-chem
- Private Applicator Card is highly recommended (but can be acquired through us if need be)
- Tool set ( also highly recommended)
- Clean driving record and ability to be insured
- 100% proficient in English is a must.
- Bi- lingual or basic Spanish is preferred.
As I mentioned before, this is NOT an entry level position. I need someone who is absolutely devoted to the agriculture industry and the farming lifestyle, someone who has experience in the above mentioned tasks, who feels confident in their ability to not only manage a large operation, but their ability to get things done, no matter what is asked of them. I will NOT tolerate a superior attitude, or the thought that some task is beneath them. If I ask, it needs to get done.
We have a tremendous team you will be working along side, with decades of experience.
This is the first time in over a decade this position is opening up. We have terrific employee retention and there is a reason for it.
