Job Title: Trailer Mechanic / Agricultural Equipment Mechanic
Location: Vernalis, CA
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $25-$35 (Depending on Experience)
Schedule: 4:00am-12:30pm (may include weekends and overtime as needed)
Position Overview:
Pallet Recovery Service Inc. is seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic/Agricultural Equipment Mechanic to perform inspection, maintenance, and repair of trailers and yard equipment. This role includes occasional road calls, requiring travel to off-site locations to diagnose and repair equipment.
Key Responsibilities
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailer systems, including:
o Air brake systems
o Tires and wheel assemblies
o Suspension components
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on trailers and yard equipment
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
• Respond to road calls to troubleshoot and repair equipment in the field
• Repair and replace defective parts, components, or systems
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with OSHA and company safety policies
Qualifications
• Proven experience as a trailer mechanic, diesel mechanic, or agricultural equipment mechanic
• Knowledge of air brake systems (required)
• Experience with tire repair and replacement
• Familiarity with general mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
Required License
• Valid Class C Driver’s License required
• Must be able to operate company vehicles for road calls and off-site repairs
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with trailers, forklifts, or agricultural equipment
• Basic welding or fabrication experience
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in outdoor conditions for extended periods
Work Environment
• Outdoor yard environment
• Exposure to weather conditions, noise, and mechanical hazards
