JoAnn Ernestine Brown, was born on January 20, 1945 in Grant, Oklahoma - Chocktaw County. JoAnn was the sixth child of 11 children born to Charlie V and Lewis Brown. Lewis Brown moved his family North to Arizona in search of steady work. The family then spent time in Colorado Springs, Colorado before landing in Palo Alto, California in 1955 where JoAnn blossomed.
JoAnn began her career in electronics for Raychem Corporation in Menlo Park and ended her career retiring as an Administrator for the San Francisco Chronicle a career that she loved.
JoAnn met the love of her life, Joshua Jackson, in 1961 at a social event and the two became inseparable. The two fell in love and from this relationship came the joy of JoAnn's life -- her 3 children. Karen, Kevin and Kenneth were the sun and the moon in JoAnn's world.
As the head of the household JoAnn raised her children to be well rounded, respectful and responsible human beings which she led beautifully by example. You never saw JoAnn without a smile on her face or a laugh coming from her mouth, her spirit was contagious. She was a great listener who was willing to help everyone and somehow made a way of making everyone in her presence feel special.
JoAnn loved spending time with her family while enjoying outings, westerns movies and loved to listen to country music. You could find JoAnn in the kitchen whipping up her famous cakes -- chocolate, lemon and especially the coconut cake that she made Karen for her birthday every year. Her children and family will hold close these special memories that were made together.
