This is a pretty rare 1966 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron 4-Door Hardtop Sedan. Only 1878 were made. This is a true survivor expected will continue to increase in value. The car runs and drives beautifully! Motor and transmission are excellent. Brakes nice and straight. Turns heads everywhere she goes!
This car is original and non-restored. Under 93k miles believed to be original. It appears to have been painted once in its lifetime. No indication of any accidents.
Original radio still works! Loaded with power options. It rivaled the Cadillacs and Lincolns in its day. Even the windwings are electric! It's of course, an AC car. Heater works. AC needs charge. I may convert it to 134a.
This 1966 model introduced the big block 440-cubic-inch "Wedge" V8, producing 350 hp, the largest engine Chrysler offered at the time, providing effortless power for this nearly 5,000-pound vehicle. It's coupled with the 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, redesigned for smoother performance in 1966.
Fun historical context:
The Black Beauty: The 1966 Imperial served as the foundation for the gadget-laden car used in The Green Hornet, driven by Kato (Bruce Lee).
Papal Use: A 1966 LeBaron was famously presented to Pope Paul VI for his visit to the United Nations in New York.
Final Year: 1966 was the last year Imperials were built on their own separate platform, making it the last of the "true" standalone Imperials before they began sharing chassis components with cheaper Chrysler models.
Normal wear shows on the leather seats as seen in the pictures. Minimal rust on the car.
Hagerty values the car between $17,000 GOOD and $7,200 FAIR. Car is arguably in at least Fair condition. Good is very subjective. JD Power/NADA estimate Low Retail at $10,500 and Average Retail $22,300. While this car mechanically appears very sound, and from 20 ft, even 10 ft it looks stunning, it would need some cosmetic reconditioning to hit the higher numbers. Very doable as a good investment for anyone inclined.
